Alana is a 2 year old, purebred Labrador bitch, fostered in Derbyshire, who was rescued with her sister from a breeder in Ireland. She was so terrified when rescued that she urinated all over herself if you just looked at her!!!

On day one Her Fosterer described her as without doubt the most “broken” dog they had ever dealt with!!..petrified of everything.. so much so that once in the house she squashed herself into the back of the sofa to try to make herself invisible!!!!

Four weeks on and we are finally seeing improvements.

House training is a work in progress but getting better every day, she will now choose to go out in the garden rather than having to be taken out on a lead.

Alana now seems to enjoy her walks and will come to her fosterer to have the lead on. She walks well on the lead enjoying all the new and interesting smells she’s probably never had chance to investigate before in her short life!!..She will still ”spook” at the odd person or strange noise but we are confident that she will get there in the end!!

Alana has taken great comfort from the resident dogs particularly a steady older bitch in her foster home. In foster in Ireland she played well with a young pup in the home. Alana will need at least one other dog in her forever home. She cannot be rehomed as an only dog.

Alanas dream home would be with adopters who are home most of the time, have had experience with ex breeding “puppy farm”dogs and who have at least one other kind friendly dog. She takes confidence from an older steady dog but would still like to play so a home with an oldie and a youngster would be ideal!!

She’s shown no aggression at all but we would only be looking for a child free home as we think children playing noisily as they do would make her too anxious!!
